The symptoms are varied and typically affect the <\/span><b>Sensors<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Feeling) that <\/span><b>Motor skills<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (force) and the <\/span><b>Trophic<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Tissue supply). Early detection of these signs is crucial to prevent permanent damage.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2><b>1. Sensory signs (sensory disturbances)<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sensory disturbances are often the <\/span><b>first and most frequent<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Signs of incipient nerve compression.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Tingling and pins and needles (paresthesia):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is the classic symptom. It is perceived as an unpleasant tingling, burning, or prickling sensation. A particularly typical characteristic is that it <\/span><b>occurs at night<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and often wakes the affected person, or during monotonous activities where the hand is held in one position for a long time (e.g. talking on the phone, driving a car).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Numbness (hypesthesia):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> As the damage progresses, sensation diminishes in the finger areas supplied by the affected nerve. Sensitivity is reduced or completely absent. Those affected report that their fingers feel &quot;numb&quot; or &quot;as if they&#039;ve fallen asleep&quot;.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Hypersensitivity (hyperalgesia):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Sometimes touch or pressure is perceived as extremely painful. This can be a sign of severe nerve irritation or more complex pain syndromes.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h2><b>2. Motor symptoms (loss of strength and function)<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Motor disorders typically occur when nerve damage occurs. <\/span><b>advanced<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is and the motor nerve fibers that control the muscles are affected.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Weakness and loss of strength:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Those affected have problems grasping and holding objects, or performing fine movements. This manifests itself, for example, in difficulty holding a cup or opening bottles.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Clumsiness (loss of fine motor skills):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The hand becomes &quot;rougher&quot;. Tasks such as closing buttons, picking up coins, or operating small keyboards become increasingly difficult or impossible.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Muscle atrophy (visible muscle wasting):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> This is the <\/span><b>most serious and latest warning signs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The muscle supplied by the nerve begins to visibly atrophy. In carpal tunnel syndrome, this is typically seen in the... <\/span><b>thenar eminence<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Thenar). Once muscle tissue is lost, recovery is often incomplete even after surgery.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h2><b>3. Vegetative\/Trophic signs (supply disorders)<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These signs indicate that the nerves responsible for the nutrition and function of the tissue are also affected.<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Changes in skin texture:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The skin in the treated area may appear unusual. <\/span><b>dry, flaky or shiny<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> They may appear. Sometimes the sweating pattern in this area is altered (extremely moist or extremely dry).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Changes in cuticles and nails:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In severe, long-lasting cases, the nails may become brittle or show growth disorders.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><h2><b>Important advice: If you experience muscle atrophy or persistent numbness, see a doctor immediately.<\/b><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you <\/span><b>persistent numbness<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or even one <\/span><b>visible muscle atrophy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If you notice anything on the ball of your thumb or little finger, you should <\/span><b>see a hand surgeon immediately<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or consult a neurologist. These are signs of severe, advanced damage that must be treated as quickly as possible to avoid permanent functional impairments.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone
