These hardenings can <\/span><b>Years<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> persist and require targeted occupational therapy treatment (scar management).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><b>Important factors influencing the duration of tissue hardening<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several factors determine how long the tissue hardening lasts and how pronounced it becomes:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Localization:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Scars over joints or in areas with high skin tension (e.g., shoulder, sternum) tend to harden more strongly and for a longer period of time.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Wound healing process:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Complications such as infections, hematomas (bruises) or serous fluid collections (seromas) in the wound area can prolong the inflammatory phase and lead to excessive formation of connective tissue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Type of procedure:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In operations that affect deeper tissue layers (tendons, fascia) \u2013 as is often the case in the <\/span><b>Hand therapy<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In this case, internal adhesions can form, which can lead to permanent restriction of movement and hardening if they are not treated early.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Genetic predisposition:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Some people are naturally prone to developing raised, hardened scars (keloids).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>The role of occupational therapy in tissue hardening<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Especially in the field of hand therapy, the treatment of scar tissue hardening is crucial for restoring function.
